Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 only received one nomination for best visual effects (Got to start off with a strong hook for my audience).

Calling it now, I predict that “The Artist” will be taking home most awards, I haven’t seen it, but it looks like the kind of movie the academy would naturally preserve, like how Hurt Locker beat Avatar or King’s Speech beat Social Network. I’m also excited that, one of my personal favorites, Gary Oldman has been nominated but he’ll probably lose to The Artist. It’s also nice to see that Jonah Hill got a nomination for his role in Moneyball, looks like there’s hope for Michael Cera next year.

My favorite movie of 2011, “Drive”, only received one nomination in sound editing, I haven’t seen most of it’s competition for the best picture category but I think it was a bit overlooked this year, oh well.

Oscar season always gets me watching the movies I skipped this year, so hopefully I can get to most of them before I can jump to conclusions.

Is it sad that I’m more into this than the super bowl? Hahaha
