It bothers me

That a strong amount of what we have to express ourselves are all in some form of digital format. The music we listen to, the pictures we have, the letters we send, and anything that your parents keep tucked away in an old shoe box. There’s just something about not being able to hold it that makes it feel less significant. I have games on my computer but I can’t give them to any kids I’ll have because they’re exclusive to an account and password, whereas a game on a disc or a cartridge for a console has been through history through all the good and bad times.

My dad is leaving in a few days, he’s going through all his possessions and as much as he’d like to bring everything with him he can’t. All these things with little to no value that mean so much to him, they’re just so awesome because I know the history behind it from the stories he can connect through them.

We need more things in this generation who define who we are, things we can really keep and not stored an an external hard drive, sign of the times I guess.
